Handbuilding 6-week block, Tuesday evenings Feb-Apr 2025
Join ceramic artist Rachelle Corker for 6 weeks of hand building in clay, suitable for complete beginners and improvers alike.
Tuesday evenings 6.30pm-9pm, running from 25th February to 2nd April 2025
You’ll learn traditional hand building pottery and sculpting techniques using stoneware clay and put into practice on your own self-directed projects.
You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to explore surface decoration using tools, slips, oxides and glazes. Your expert tutor Rachelle will be on-hand to help you realise your creative vision, offering advice and guidance along the way, plus an extra pair of hands when needed for the tricky bits!
Suitable for complete beginners to those who’ve attended hand building classes before and are looking to practice and improve their technique on their own self-directed projects.
What’s included:
15hrs creative time, artist-led with tuition and guidance to help you realise your creative vision
5x making sessions and 1x glazing session in week 6
£210 incl. clay, slips, underglazes, oxides and glazes, as well as tools, stoneware firings, and of course, tuition - no hidden extras!
Free secure parking at venue
Everything you make is yours to keep, work collection is several weeks after the final session
Working with clay is a wonderful mindful activity and great for boosting your mental health and wellbeing. We’re a friendly and fun bunch, so you are guaranteed to have some lovely chats and make a few friends along the way!
Things to note:
Adults 18yrs+ only
Suitable for complete beginners to those who’ve attended handbuilding classes before and are looking for advice/guidance with their making
Wear some warmer layers for the winter months - we have heating but you will be seated so warm thin layers work well
Please inform us at the time of booking if you have any accessibility requirements (such as being differently abled, reduced mobility, neurodiverse etc) or health issues that we need to be aware of (such as balance issues, low blood pressure, allergies etc).
Courses are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Please check you can attend the date/time before booking as mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards, and we can't reimburse you or offer catch-ups for any missed sessions. We are a small business and need classes to run at full occupancy so we can keep the lights on and our bellies full!
